Stories from the community

"My quiet time had become routine — I'd open my Bible and not know where to start. Selah chose a passage that felt less like an algorithm and more like someone who knew exactly what I needed. I can't explain it except to say it felt like God meeting me right there."

Encountering Peace subscriber

"I always wanted a spiritual director but never had access to one. Selah gave me something close — a guide that adjusts to where I am, not a one-size-fits-all devotional. For the first time, my quiet time actually felt like mine."

Encountering Peace subscriber

"I've listened to Drew's meditations for years. His voice has become part of my prayer life. When I heard it guide me through Selah, something settled in me. It wasn't just content — it was familiar, trustworthy."

Encountering Peace subscriber

"I've journaled my whole life but always stared at a blank page. Selah's questions stopped me cold — in the best way. They went straight to what the Scripture had just stirred in me. I wrote more in ten minutes than I had in months."

Encountering Peace subscriber

"My spiritual life was scattered across five different apps, three books, and a podcast. Nothing talked to anything else. Selah pulled it together — Scripture, meditation, prayer, reflection, all in one quiet conversation."

Encountering Peace subscriber

"I kept putting off my quiet time because starting felt hard. Too many choices, too much friction. Selah removed all of it. I opened it, answered one question, and I was already in prayer before I realized what had happened."

Drew, founder of Encountering Peace

About the founder

Built by someone who studied the question

Drew holds a Doctorate in Theological Anthropology from SMU, where his dissertation examined how generative AI shapes spiritual direction — making him one of the few people in the world who has studied this question at an academic level. As founder of Encountering Peace, he has built a global community of 300,000 daily subscribers seeking stillness and deeper awareness of God. Selah is the product of that research, that community, and 30 years of faith-based media work.

Things people ask before they begin

Can AI really be part of my spiritual life?
Selah doesn't replace the Holy Spirit, your pastor, or your church — and it's not trying to. Think of it the way you'd think of a study Bible, a devotional, or a prayer journal. It's a tool that creates space. What happens in that space is between you and God. Drew built Selah because he spent four years studying exactly this question at a doctoral level — and he believes technology, used wisely, can help quiet the noise so you can hear what matters.
I need more Jesus, not more AI.
Amen. Selah exists for exactly that reason. Every session begins and ends with Scripture. Selah doesn't speak for God — it points you toward His Word and gets out of the way. If it ever feels like a distraction rather than a doorway, close it and open your Bible. That's always the right call.
Is Selah replacing my pastor or church?
Not for a moment. Selah is a personal quiet-time tool — the space between you and God before the rest of the day begins. It's no more a replacement for your church than a journal or a devotional is. It supports your spiritual life; it doesn't stand in for your community.
Is my data private?
Your conversations with Selah are used only to power your session. We don't sell your data, we don't train on it, and we don't share it. What you share in prayer and reflection stays in your session. You can export or delete your sessions at any time.
How is this different from other Bible apps?
Most Bible apps are libraries — they give you content and leave you alone with it. Selah is a conversation. It meets you where you are today, asks what you're carrying, and shapes the entire session — Scripture, meditation, prayer — around that. It's not a feed you scroll; it's a space you enter.
