Encountering Peace AI operates Selah, an AI-powered spiritual companion available at encounteringpeace.ai. We take the privacy of your inner life seriously.

What We Collect

• Account & Subscription Information: Your name, email, and payment info collected through Memberful and processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card details.
• Session Preferences: Preferences such as Scripture translation, meditation depth, and voice are stored locally in your browser via localStorage.
• Conversation Content: Messages you send to Selah are transmitted to Anthropic (Claude AI) to generate responses. Session content is retained to support your experience and improve the service.
• Audio Generation Data: When you request a custom meditation, your meditation text is sent to ElevenLabs to generate audio.
• Usage Data: Standard analytics such as page visits, session duration, and browser type, collected through Netlify and PostHog.

• To manage your subscription and process payments

Data Retention

Session content is retained securely to support continuity and improve your experience. localStorage preferences remain until you clear your browser. Subscription data is retained by Memberful while your account is active.

Selah is not intended for users under 13.

These Terms govern your use of Selah, operated by Encountering Peace, LLC.

Who May Use Selah

Users must be at least 13 years of age. Premium features require an active Memberful subscription.

Description of Service

Selah is an AI-powered spiritual companion for prayer, Scripture meditation, and reflection. It is not a licensed counseling service, a substitute for pastoral care, or a religious authority of any kind. It is a tool, not a person.

Subscriptions and Payments

• Billed on a recurring basis through Memberful/Stripe
• Cancel anytime through your Memberful account
• No refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law
• Pricing may change with reasonable advance notice

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Selah for any unlawful purpose, attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape the app, harm or disrupt our infrastructure, or share login credentials with others.

AI Limitations

AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. Selah's responses are not theological doctrine or clinical advice. Exercise your own discernment.

Intellectual Property

The Selah application, design, system prompts, and branding are the property of Encountering Peace, LLC. Pre-recorded audio may not be redistributed without written permission.

Limitation of Liability

Encountering Peace, LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Total liability shall not exceed amounts paid in the three months preceding any claim.

• localStorage: Stores your preferences (name, translation, depth, voice) on your device only. Not transmitted to our servers. Not a cookie.
• Session Cookies: Set by Netlify and Memberful to keep you logged in. Strictly necessary.
• Analytics: Lightweight usage analytics via Netlify and PostHog. Aggregate only, not personally identifying.

What We Do Not Use

No advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or behavioral advertising technology.

Your Choices

Clear localStorage and cookies anytime through browser settings. This resets your Selah preferences and may require you to log in again.

AI Disclosure

What Selah is — and what it isn't

Selah is an AI — not a human, not a pastor, not a therapist, and not a spiritual director. It is a thoughtfully designed tool built to create space for you to encounter God. Responses are generated by Claude (Anthropic) guided by a system prompt rooted in Scripture and contemplative Christian tradition.

What Selah Can Do

• Lead you through a guided Scripture meditation
• Generate a personalized meditation in your preferred voice and translation
• Recommend a pre-recorded meditation from the Encounter library
• Pose a reflective question drawn from something Jesus asked
• Offer a closing blessing

What Selah Cannot Do

• Remember previous sessions (current version)
• Provide mental health counseling or crisis intervention
• Replace a pastor, counselor, or community
• Speak with theological authority
• Know with certainty what is true for your soul

A Word About Spiritual Data

What you share with Selah is among the most sensitive data imaginable. Conversation content is transmitted to Anthropic and ElevenLabs only to deliver your experience. It is never sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models without consent.

Our Commitment

We will always be honest about what Selah is. We will never design it to simulate human relationship in a way that misleads you.
